6 Steps To Accomplish Your Goals

Do you have goals in your workplace, but not for your personal life? We tend to put priority on goals for our career, but fail at creating goals for our personal life. It’s important to separate yourself from your workplace and create goals that will motivate you in your personal life. You need goals that will keep you active, healthy, motivated and filled with joy. Our careers can most definitely suck the joy away from us, if all we are doing is focusing on goals that are career driven. It’s important to find time for our personal lives and set goals that are not career or money generated.

If you struggle to set personal goals for yourself, I have 6 simple steps to help you start.

Striving to become a better version of yourself should always be a goal. How can you be better than you were yesterday? How can you make an impact on your family? How can you help others? How can you motivate those around you? These are all great questions to ask yourself when setting personal goals. Personal goals are intended to help you become a better version of yourself. It’s important that we strive to have personal goals to keep us motivated and to be intentional at growing personally. 

Let me give you an example of just a few personal goals I have made for 2022.

  1. Hike 222 miles.
  2. Lead 2 Community Groups with my Church
  3. Read one book per month.

Notice how none of these goals are generated for someone else, another organization or to bring in money.  I have separate goals for my business, but I feel it’s so important to have as many if not more goals for your personal growth than for your career or business.  If you find yourself having far more career generated goals and little to no personal growth goals, then you need to make a change.  Setting personal goals is an effective way to increase motivation and to help you create positive changes you want to see. It also can be used to improve your health, productivity at work and even in your relationships. Goals setting is a proven way to also help recover or improve mental health illnesses.

Use these steps to begin writing goals for your personal growth and just see how you change in a year’s time.  You have to stick to them and put a plan into place to follow them, but when you do you will see a new version of yourself. You are worth it!
